Studio Painting Workshops
Studio Painting Workshops are where I invite a small circle of painters to gather, roll up their sleeves, and create in community. If working alone at your kitchen table has started to feel a little isolating, these workshops offer the energy, encouragement, and shared learning that only a roomful of artists can bring.
Each workshop is built around a clear focus-perhaps loosening up in watercolor, building luminous layers in acrylic, or exploring mixed media with collage, texture, and mark-making. I open with a demonstration pulled from my decades of teaching studio painting and graphic design, breaking larger concepts into simple, practical steps. You will see exactly how I begin, how I correct a misstep, and how I know when a piece is truly finished.
Then it is your turn. You will work on your own piece at your own level, while I move through the room offering individual guidance. Beginners receive plenty of hands-on help and clear explanations. More experienced painters get thoughtful suggestions to stretch their skills, try new tools, or deepen their personal style.
Because the group is small, there is time for questions, quiet moments of concentration, and those lovely conversations that happen when people make art side by side. Many participants tell me the workshops become a kind of creative reset-a day to set aside errands and worries, and remember how good it feels to play with color and possibility.
Workshops are offered periodically throughout the year, both in person near my studio and, when appropriate, with supporting materials online so you can keep practicing afterward. If you are longing for structured time, honest coaching, and the companionship of others who care about art as much as you do, a Studio Painting Workshop might be exactly the breath of fresh air your practice needs.
