Deborah S. Sherer
Deborah S. Sherer loves the written word. “Not many pleasures are greater than holding a book in your hands and letting the words change your soul.”
Her personal work explores an “over-the-hill” perspective. “I still want to explore the possibilities in life, to search for the magic, especially love.” Her latest works embody a personal life filled with joy and pain. “Us older folks have feelings, too! A few gray hairs and wrinkles belie the fact inside we carry the same wishes and desires of our youth.”
She majored first in Literature but changed majors to pursue a Master of Art in Teaching Art. In teaching a multitude of students of all ages, from Kindergarten to private classes for adults to University where she taught Studio Painting and Graphic Design, she sought first to touch many souls with her unique vision of life, encouraging all to find the magic and beauty in life. Teaching art by day, she saved her writing for the night, exploring her dreams and visions.
Widow, mother of five with many wonderful grandchildren, she now enjoys having time every day to paint or write or just enjoy the beauty of God’s nature. She loves studying people and their stories.
“How lucky am I?”
How I Work
I begin with lived experience, moving fluidly between page and canvas while letting grief, romance, and everyday beauty guide my hand.
• On the Page: I write into the night, crafting heartfelt stories that celebrate hope, love, and emotional truth.
• On the Canvas: I paint using watercolor, oil, acrylic, and mixed media to capture light, color, and quiet moments.
• In the Studio: I bring 40 years of teaching experience into every brushstroke and sentence, always seeking to touch your soul and help you see your own story differently.
