Art Instruction Video Series
My Art Instruction Video Series grew out of years of students saying, "I wish I could take you home with me." Since I cannot fit myself into your paint box, these online lessons are the next best thing. You can sit down with them whenever life allows-early morning before the house wakes, or late at night when the day finally quiets.
Drawing on nearly four decades of teaching, I have shaped each video to feel like a real class, not just a quick tip. I walk you through watercolor, acrylic, oil, and mixed media techniques step by step, explaining not only what to do, but why it works. You will see my palette, brushes, and paper or canvas up close, along with the little adjustments-tilting the brush, softening an edge, glazing a color-that bring a painting to life.
Some lessons focus on the basics: how to mix clean color, how to control water, how to build a strong composition. Others invite you into more personal territory, such as using painting to process memory, grief, or joy. I speak to you as I would in my studio in Lexington, as if you are sitting at the next easel, because in my mind, you are.
The series is especially kind to beginners and returning artists. You can pause, rewind, and repeat as often as you like without feeling self-conscious. For more experienced painters, I include deeper dives into edges, contrast, and design that can refresh and challenge your practice.
As I add new episodes, I will also weave in conversations about creativity, faith, and everyday life, so the videos become not only instruction, but quiet companionship on your artistic path. All you need is your art supplies, an internet connection, and the willingness to press play. I will meet you there, brush in hand.
